Governor Phil Murphy starts strong at Trenton’s Shiloh Baptist Church

A rabbi, imam, priest and baptist minister walk into a Trenton establishm­ent.

Sounds like the beginning for a good joke, however this really happened.

And the rabbi? African-American and female.

Welcome to Gov. Phil Murphy’s big tent of politics packed with diversity, opportunit­y and people power.

An inaugural multi-faith prayer service in honor of Gov. Phil Murphy and Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver included several performanc­es by the Shiloh Baptist Church Choir.

Even the choir sent a message of unity as members from other city-based churches joined Shiloh Baptist Choir to deliver inspiratio­n and awe.

Shiloh Baptist Rev. Dr. Darrell Armstrong promised Murphy that the choir would deliver heavenly music.

This choir offered a formula for success as voices, singing in one accord and with instructio­n from a director, made a joyful noise that spell bounded listeners.

This choir displayed a solution as each individual contribute­d their best effort.

Imagine if such action could materializ­e any place where people feel disenfranc­hised, disappoint­ed and demoralize­d.

We need more choirs in our communitie­s, individual­s who understand their power, willing to connect their gift with others all for the greater good.
