WHO TWO KEEP?
Split Decision >> Who should stay and who should go between the two star quarterbacks on the Eagles roster?
Trade Carson Wentz.
Before we delve into the aforementioned blasphemy and for the record, the pick here had Philadelphia Eagles defeating New England, 27-24.
That’s why Eagles fans have sent few emails or phone messages. Now onto this new dilemma about former starting quarterback and the franchise Wentz vs. Super Bowl champion signal caller, Nick Edward Foles. “It’s a dilemma,’ offered a coworker who wants Wentz.
Hold up. The quarterback who ended almost six decades of Green misery is named Nick Foles who claimed the position after Wentz suffered injury.
Eagles coach Doug Pederson made certain that Wentz did not suffer emotional distress.
Pederson reportedly assured his former starting quarterback that he’s still the man.
“I had a chance to talk to Carson actually on the field, on the podium, last night after the game, and [I] just told him to take this in, just enjoy this moment,” Pederson said. “He’s a great quarterback, and he’s a big reason [we were here]. I told him, ‘You’re a big, big part of why this team won this championship and won this game.’ I told him that hopefully we’ll be back in this game with him leading the way.”
Hold up. Yes, Wentz put the Eagles in position with fantastic play that warranted MVP mention. While Foles heads off to Disney as Super Bowl LII MVP, any idea that Wentz participated in securing Philadelphia’s first Lombardi trophy sounds like fantasy.
Foles delivered against Minnesota in the NFC Championship game and when people doubted his ability against New England, the ball slinger moved the Eagles up and down the field at will.
Wentz, 25, lists as damaged goods since he tore his ACL and LCL in the team’s Dec. 10 victory over the Los Angeles Rams. He had surgery three days later.
Wentz could return by the beginning of training season for 2018. He may be good as new and ready to take the reins of his team.
If healthy, Philadelphia should take a risk and trade Wentz for some high-round draft choices. Foles has proven his value and took this Eagles to football’s promised land.
Should Philly keep Wentz then Foles is out and their franchise quarterback will face the scrutiny of every play, even more so if he fails to return them to the Super Bowl.
Football remains a business and while Eagles fans will trash management and the city with a dismissal of Wentz, my money’s on Foles.
Either way. Hope Philadelphia fans enjoy their ginormous parade on Thursday.
First beer’s on Eagles Lane Johnson and Bud Light.
