The Trenton art revolution continues Thursday, Feb. 8 with a gallery opening inside a historical downtown building.

Broad Street Bank owns an almost 120-year history at 143 East State St. which now houses the BSB Gallery as Trenton Downtown Association ramps the Creek to Canal Creative District (C2C) initiative.

The new gallery utilizes an impressive space in the former Broad Street Bank which includes high ceilings, huge columns and the original ornate light fixtures. Even the existing vault doors exude art as visitors peer into the mechanical workings in each of the doors.

The new gallery is supported by grant funding generously provided by the George H. and Estelle M. Sands Foundation and by Isles, Inc. with support from the New Jersey Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit Program.

Trenton Downtown Association Executive Director Tom Gilmour said “this new space will be a platform to recognize and promote all the extraordinary art being created in our Capital City.”

“The opening of the BSB Gallery is TDA’s most recent investment in Trenton’s amazing arts community. The new gallery will function as a platform for local artists to show off the diversity of work currently created in Trenton. The arts in Trenton are one of the cities most important assets. They will significantly impact the current efforts to revive of the city. Support Trenton and attend the opening on Saturday.”

The first art objective delivers “The Influence of Women,” an exhibit “profiling a diverse and unique sample of the talent in the city. Curated by Meaghan Singletary and Craig Shofed, the show includes the works of local artists Tamara Torres, Aylin Green, Kate Graves, Alia Bensliman, Jesse Vincent and Lori Jensen.

TDA hosts a soft opening on Feb. 8, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The grand opening occurs on Saturday, Feb. 10 as Trenton invests in art as part of the city’s revitalization effort.

BSB Gallery will be open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Thursday, February 15, 2018. We hope you can come and celebrate with us. Please RSVP to bsbgallery@trentondowntown.com
