Credit Card Scheme: Cliff Delva, 27, of Hillside, Hill Cajour, 28, and Wilkens Bazelais, 34, both of Jersey City, were arrested in connection with a credit card fraud scheme following a traffic stop on Route 130. Officials say police stopped the trio for equipment and moving violations around 9p.m. Monday and then received a call from a local gas station employee who said these same three people had just left the business and purchased numerous packs of cigarettes with multiple credit cards, which the employee felt was suspicious. Police then searched the vehicle and recovered 47fraudulent credit cards and determined that 31 of them contained cloned data
in their magnetic strips. Police also seized fake identification cards, 179packs of cigarettes believed to have been fraudulently purchased with the credit cards, and a USB magnetic stripe swipe credit card encoding device.
Hightstown
Bomb Investigation: The suspicious device found in a restroom that forced officials to evacuate Hightstown High School turned out to be internal components of an exterior
battery pack. Officials say the charger no longer had a case due to damage, exposing the battery pack and circuit board, which gave an appearance of a bomb. Investigators say the device malfunctioned while being used by a student, causing the device to spark. The student then panicked and ran into the bathroom to trash the device. Police say the student was cooperative during the investigation and took responsibility for what happened. Police concluded the incident was not meant to be malicious, and was not a hoax.
