State of things

-

I read Parkers article about “Do we need the National Anthem?” He states at a recent High School Basketball game the anthem was not played and nobody cared. I don’t believe that. Unfortunately I believe some didn’t care but I believe quite a few did. Sadly, I think this may become our future. We as a society have lost all family traditions, respect for our parents and elders as well as teachers and anyone in authority. We don’t eat dinner as a family any more because everyone is too busy. A lot of people have no religion in their family or lives. I am 68 years old and have been saying this for many years. People, especially the 20 to 40 year olds are more worried about what they have. Keeping up with the Kardashian’s is their goal. Buying cars, houses, jewelry, clothes, that they can’t afford. They want what their parents took 30 years to accomplish right now! And look at the state of our country. Our family core is going by the wayside. We need to get back to the way our grandparents and parents brought up my generation. Hard work, religion and respect for others as well as self-respect. That’s what’s missing today and maybe the reason why there is so much crime and violence.

The answer isn’t moving backward, but trying to figure out a good way forward.
