Hamilton woman turns 102
Elizabeth “Betty” Seitz has aged since The Trentonian mentioned her last.
A lot has changed in the world since Seitz turned 99 three years ago, that’s when colleague Jeff Edelstein introduced her to Trentonian readers.
Trenton-born and raised on Genesee St., Seitz moved to Hamilton in the 1950s, married her husband, Otto, a World War II Purple Heart recipient, and settled down for 49 years of life with her once in a lifetime love.
Time slipped away and The Trentonian lost track as Seitz joined a magical centenarian group She turned 102 following a birthday celebration on Friday.
Her circle of life has expanded with the addition of two-year-old, Jianna Wills, who joined the birthday party at Arcadia Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Including Wills, decked out in an adorable outfit, Seitz has seven great greatgreat grandchildren and three grandchildren, including Kenny Blauth.
Seitz moved into Arcadia in December 2017.
“Until then she lived alone and did everything for herself,” Debbie Cram, a granddaughter noted.
With God and Kathy Simmons, a second granddaughter attending the celebration in a residence community room, as witnesses, Seitz received attention from another resident.
He introduced himself, even confessed his romantic nature, then added a compliment about Seitz being an attraction.
“Hey, he’s hitting on my mom-mom. We’re going to have to keep an eye on you,” Cram warned.
We laughed again as Cram and Simmons related a story about the day family members relieved Seitz of her driving privileges.
“Remember when mommom hit that police car,” Cram asked. Seitz had operated a vehicle into her 90s.
Seitz remains a warm, life celebrant as her age odometer clicks and rolls along.
“Chocolate,” she noted when asked about what gives her such stunning longevity. Happy Birthday Elizabeth “Betty” Seitz.
