Nicholas G. Sisti, of Hamilton

Nicholas (Nick) G. Sisti, 94, of Hamilton, went home to be in the loving arms of Our Lord on February 10, 2018, surrounded by his family.
Born in Trenton, NJ, on February 22, 1923, Nick grew up in the Chambersburg area. After graduating from Trenton Central High School in 1941, he worked odd jobs until he enlisted in the United States Army serving in WWII as a medic on the front lines in France, Belgium, Germany and London and in 1945 he was honorably discharged.
After the war, Nick worked for Kramer Trenton Company as Human Resource Manager while attending Rider University. In 1950, he married the love of his life, Edith, and they went on to have four beautiful children. Nick also worked part time for George Mancuso Realty, Tighue Realty and Heritage Realty as a salesman. After his retirement from Kramer Trenton Co., he continued his career in real estate while working part-time for Tab Electric Co.
A member of St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church since 1956, Nick belonged to and served a term as vice president of St. Gregory the Great Holy Name Society. He was a member of St. Gregory the Great Council 7677 Knights of Columbus and served as a Knights Honor Guard for many years. Nick earned the Honor of Fourth Degree Knight and was the Knight of the Year in 2001. In March, 2017, Nick was honored by the Knights of Columbus as the oldest living Knight in the area, having served 34 years. Nick was also Captain of St. Alphonsus Retreat House, Long Branch, NJ., for over 20 years.
As a Eucharist Minster, he brought Communion to the sick at St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton, NJ., every week for 25 years. He also volunteered to work with handicapped children at Holy Cross School of Learning. Nick showed his love for Jesus by attending mass, adoration, retreats and novenas. He always made sure his children went to church and received the sacraments. The one thing Nick longed for when he was sick was to be at his beautiful church and to be with all the people that he so loved. Nick was always so humbled when Father Jay Bowden would come to the house to hear his confession, bring him communion and sit and chat for a bit. His devotion to his faith is an inspiration to all.
Over a 20 year span, Nick coordinated and oversaw all the details for Saint Gregory the Great Senior Citizen trips. People always said his adventures were the best! He also belonged to Robbinsville Senior Citizens Club and attended many of their functions. Nick enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading, going to the casinos, country western dancing, line dancing, ball room dancing, fishing, swimming, shopping, dressing to the nines and he enjoyed a good party! He also had a soft heart for animals especially his dog Mandy.
Besides playing softball for Trenton Oldstack, he coached his sons in HTRBA and PAL basketball. Nick loved his sports and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox.
Predeceased in death by his father, Vito (Pete) Sisti; his mother, Susan Giallilla Sisti; his sister, Josephine “Josie” and her husband, Arthur “Joe” Tagliaferri; his son, Mark A. Sisti; his grandson, Tommy (Tee) Simpson; his infant angel twin greatgranddaughters, Ayla Joy and Juliet Grace and infant angel twin greatgranddaughter, Bayli Rae and great-grandson, Thomas A. Simpson, Jr.; he is survived by his wife of 67 years, Edith C. Fusco Sisti; his daughter, Susan M. Sisti Simpson (Thomas); sons, Nicholas F. Sisti (Joan) and Vito J. Sisti (Marlene); his granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Simpson Holt and his four great-grandchildren, Devin Kimberly, Paige Susann, Riley Michele and Drew Michael Holt.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church, 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Sq., NJ.
Entombment will follow at St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Hamilton, NJ.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Sq., NJ.
