Stuart wins Prep B crown for first time
PRINCETON » The Stuart Country Day School girls basketball team can all itself champions.
Bey-Shana Clark scored 22 points and the Tartans rolled to a 62-22 victory over the Academy of St. Elizabeth to win the NJISAA Prep B championship for the first time in program history on Wednesday afternoon.
Stuart (16-7), which is also the No. 7 seed in the Mercer County Tournament that gets underway on Thursday, won its two games in the Prep B tournament by an average of 39 points.
The Tartans beat Newark Academy, 67-29, in the semifinals and then got to host the final after St. Elizabeth (12-11) upset top-seeded Morristown-Beard.
Stuart made the made the most of that opportunity. Jalynn Spaulding finished with 15 points and Jasmine Hansford added 11.
The Tartans host 10thseeded Princeton on Thursday in the MCT first round. They defeated the Little Tigers, 55-48, in back on Jan. 27.
