Three Mercer athletes seeded top four in Region V

Hoping to become the school’s second region champ, Princeton’s Alec Bobchin has received the No. 1 seed at 138 pounds for this week’s Region V wrestling tournament at the Hunterdon Central Fieldhouse.

It certainly is an attainable goal for Bobchin, who is 30-4 and in a weight class that is not considered one of the stronger brackets in the tournament.

In the second spot at 113 pounds is Chris Lanciano of Hopewell Valley. Fourth at regions last year, Lanciano is currently 32-2. Heading up is his weight is Tyler Klinsky of Middletown North.

The only other Mercer wrestler seeded in the top four is West Windsor South’s Steve O’Campo at 152 pounds. After being forced to sit out the Mercer County Tourney for skin issues, O’Campo has gone on to compile a 31-1 record. Should he advance to the semis, his opponent will mostly likely be unbeaten Joe Casey of Bound Brook.

Host Hunterdon Central has several wrestlers in the hunt for gold. These include Brett Ungar (No. 2 at 106), Hunter Graf (No. 1 at 132) and Vincent Romaniello (No. 2 at 145).

Also from the area, Delaware Valley’s A.J. DeRosa heads up the 126 pounds bracket.
