Mother Gertrude Blue Campbell of Trenton

Mother Gertrude Blue Campbell, 100, of Trenton, received her wings to glory on February 14, 2018 at Preferred Care at Mercer in Ewing, NJ.

Born in Dillon, SC, Mother Campbell was educated in McColl, SC. She moved to Trenton as a young adult and joined Trenton Church of Christ.

She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Louise Blue; her soulmate husband, Barney “Coot” Campbell Sr.; five children, LeArtis Blue, Dorothy Campbell, Mary Campbell, Diane Campbell-Jones, and Helen Campbell; her grandchildren, Marty Flowers, Louis Campbell-Pernell, Jacqueline, Barney III, and James Campbell; brothers, Grady Sr., Eddie, and Mason Blue; sisters, Maybelle Adams, Louise Sally, and Sarah Patterson; and special friend, Mother Montoque.

Mother Gertrude leaves to mourn her passing her children, Barney Campbell Jr., James “July” Campbell, Pastor Janet L. Campbell, Marvin Campbell (Motro); one sister, Henrietta Williams; and a host of grandchildren, great, great great, great great great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 11:00 am at Samaritan Baptist Church, 531 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Trenton, NJ.

Interment will be in Fountain Lawn Memorial Park.

Calling hours will be held from 9 to 11 am at the church.
