Alma Jean Johnson Laster,
71 of Lawrenceville, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson in Hamilton, NJ.
Alma was born in South Brunswick, NJ and raised in Cranbury, NJ.
She was a resident of Lawrenceville, NJ for over 20 years.
Alma graduated from Jamesburg High School in 1964.
She worked for the State of NJ for over 35 years, working the last 24 of those years with Thomas Edison State University in the Office of Nursing and the Office of Test Administration. She retired in 2012.
Alma joined Shiloh Baptist Church in 1985 where she was active in the Choir, Scholarship Ministry and the Women’s Ministry.
Alma was the daughter of the late Eura Mae Peters Johnson and John D. Johnson. She was also predeceased by her brothers Joe Johnson, John Johnson Jr. and sister Fanny Cullen. She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Alvin Smith Jr. of Westampton, NJ; a daughter Alicia Malone of Pennington, NJ; four grandchildren: Alexis Malone, Sydney Malone, Brandon Smith and Destiny Smith; two siblings, Patricia Johnson and Jack Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 10am, Monday, February 26, 2018 at Shiloh Baptist Church, Rev. S. Howard Woodson Jr. Way, Trenton, NJ. Calling hours will be from 8am until time of service at the church. Interment Ewing Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Hughes Funeral Home.
