Evan Barratt picked the right time for a career game as his two goals pushed Penn State into the Big Ten Tournament semifinals this weekend at Notre Dame.

Barratt, who played at Hun and then with the United States National Development team before heading to the Nittany Lions, scored a pair of goals, including the game winner as Penn State defeated Minnesota, 6-5.

It is the third multi-point game of the season as the two goals and one assist tied his career highs this season.

“Easiest way to describe Evan is that he is just a hockey player,’’ said Penn State coach Guy Gadowsky. “Incredibly. Competitive, but it is IQ and instincts that set him apart. It is those instincts that make him hard to play against defensively and very creative offensively. He just seems to know where the puck is going before anyone else.’’

The Nittany Lions have won five straight and Barratt has been an integral part in them being a tournament-ready team at the right time of the year.
