Princeton Day’s Auslander, Hun’s Mandleur headline All-Prep team
It was another banner year in the prep ranks as Princeton Day reached the final of the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League, Pennington gained the final of the Independence League and Hun continued its mastery over the Mercer County Tournament.
None of it would’ve been possible without some very talented players on the ice, and it’s time to recognize those players.
This year Tyler DeLorenzo, the proprietor of DeLorenzo’s “the Burg” Tomato Pies in Levittown and a former Trentonian Defensive Player of the Year while at Notre Dame, has sponsored the Player of the Year plaque. the puck and possesses a great awareness on the ice. GOALIE OF THE YEAR — KARL SZABO (LAWRENCEVILLE) » A veteran goaltender, Szabo was a key to any success the young Lawrenceville team had. It was his ability to make the key saves that allowed a young team to ease some growing pains. He came up bog for Lawrenceville in the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League games. ALEX BOCNIEWICZ (PENNINGTON) » The Red Raiders have been thin in the numbers department lately, but the talent they put on the ice gives 110 percent. Bocniewicz, a junior, scored 14 goals and aided on 12 others and was always dangerous with the puck on his stick. One of the leaders of the Pennington attack who helped them reach the conference final. player, Friedman, a senior, tallied 11 goals for the Panthers, but his value was felt in so many ways on the ice. Whether it be going into the corners or making a key check, he was always up to the challenge.
EDDIE EVALDI (HUN) » One of the best younger players in the area, Evaldi moved to the defense this season for the Raiders and was very effective. He was great in the transition game and special teams as he scored four goals and had 34 assists. Evaldi always rises to the challenge in big games. LUKE ANTONACCI (PRINCETON DAY) » Just a freshman, Antonacci played the game of a savvy veteran and quickly became a force for the Panthers. Possessing a great sense of the game and where he needs to be and where his teammates will be was one of his greatest assets.
SIDNEY SPENCER (PENNINGTON) » A staunch defender and a solid performer all over the ice best describes Spencer. He is a consummate team player and one who is always looking to make the team better in any way he can. He tallied a goal and three assists on the season for the Red Raiders.
