After a very tough loss to Penn in the Ivy League opener last week things don’t get any easier for Princeton on Saturday.

The Tigers (3-3, 0-1 Ivy) head to No. 6 Yale (5-1, 1-0 Ivy) for a 1 p.m. face off in New Haven, Conn.

“Yale is an outstanding program and has set the standard in the Ivy League,” said Princeton coach Matt Madalon. “We are looking forward to a great game. We hope to limit our mistakes and play complimentary lacrosse.”

This is a young Princeton team and at times the growing pains have taken a toll as it searches for consistency.

After getting the first goal of the game last week, it was all Penn, but with a young team, it’s important not to glance too much in the rearview mirror and Madalon hopes that is the case this week.

“With a young team the objective is to learn from your mistakes and limit them moving forward,” said Madalon.

Princeton will definitely be looking to limit the effectiveness of the Bulldogs’ Ben Reeves.

A two-time All-America player, Reeves is already Yale’s all-time leading scorer with 234 career points, including 19 goals and 14 assists this season.

“Yale is a great defensive team and has one of the best players (Reeves) in the country,” said Madalon. “We need to limit Reeves’ production and be more efficient on the offensive end.”

The Tigers are led by Michael Sowers with 11 goals and 24 assists and Austin Sims chips in with 13 goals and five assists.
