Trenton man IDed as Hamilton murder victim
TRENTON » A city man who was found shot to death over the weekend with his hands bound and mouth taped shut has been identified as Danny Diaz-Delgado, authorities said Monday.
Sources told The Trentonian the 20-year-old Trenton man had been reported missing hours before authorities found his body riddled with bullets Saturday afternoon near the Assunpink Creek, prompting police and firefighters to flood the Whitehead Manor section of Hamilton Township.
The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said Diaz-Delgado had been shot several times in the head, torso and leg and was pronounced dead. Officers found Diaz-Delgado face down and unresponsive with his hands tied behind his back and tape around his face.
Officials didn’t say what motivated the gruesome killing or release any other details about the investigation. But sources have said the murder appears to be a kidnapping and execution.
The slaying shook up the township’s Whitehead Manor section which is perhaps best known for being susceptible to flooding. The neighborhood got hit hard by Hurricane Irene in 2011, a storm that caused massive flooding along the Assunpink Creek.
