Jerry Travis of Pennington

-

Jerry Travis, longtime resident of Pennington, NJ, died April 1, 2018. He was the owner of Walter P. Travis, Inc. in Ewing, NJ and was the journeyman water well driller of that company for 63 years. The business was started by his father, Walter, in 1923 and the family is proud and honored to have brought, as Jerry always said, “the liquid of life” to businesses, communities, and families in the greater central NJ and eastern PA region. He was a giant in the water well and pumps industry and he will surely be missed by all those who had business and friendly relationships with him in this profession and the thousands of people he served in the community at large.

Jerry was a top sergeant in the NJ National Guards for 22 years and was an avid sportsman who loved to salt water fish, golf, and hunted as a member of the Clover Rod and Gun Club in Kingwood Township, the Crazy Quilt Lodge in northern PA, and in New Mexico for elk. He also loved football, baseball and horse racing.

Married to his high school sweetheart, Lois Travis (who passed away in September of 2014) for 60 years, his parents were Walter and Lillian Travis and his siblings were Philip Travis and Gloria Spranza. He is survived by his sons Dale and Brad, his daughters-in-law Lisa Travis and Faith Ligouri, his grandson Zachary Travis, and his nieces Diane Danley, Betty Lou Francis, Iris Lewis and Nancy Clinton.

Respecting his wishes, there are no services planned.
