LAWRENCEVILLE » Since Hannah Schur and six other seniors arrived at Lawrenceville there has been a tradition of winning and providing leadership.

Following in the hallowed footsteps of Jane Kirby, Lexi Grossman, Chloe Jones and Reilly Fletcher, Schur and her classmates are ready to pick up the torch.

Displaying an opportunistic attack and a stingy defense, the Big Red notched an impressive 16-4 win over Hun on Wednesday in a Mid-Atlantic Prep League game played on Lawrenceville’s windswept Fisher Field.

The Big Red (3-0, 2-0 MAPL), which had 11 players score goals, got up early on Hun (1-1, 0-1 MAPL) and never let the Raiders get untracked offensively.

“Over the years we have seen the importance of playing together and leaving it all out on the field,” said Schur. “Always giving it your all and playing for Big Red.”

Since Schur and the seniors were freshmen the Big Red have amassed a record of 56-10, won three MAPL titles, one state title and one Mercer County Tournament championship.

“We are a team that works so well together, and we are able to capitalize on our talent,” said Schur. “We want to have a lot success, but we want to make sure we focus on being a team.”

Senior Annabelle Albert led the way with six points on two goals and four assists, Meg Hillman added two and two, Olivia Koch had a hat trick, Lizzie Huesman had two goals and one helper, Hannah Schur had a goal and two assists and Charlotte Albert had one goal and one assist.

Natalie Schur, Caroline Foster, Lizzy Gracey, Grace Faircloth, Kaeli Huesman and Caroline Cullinan all had one tally for the Big Red.

Hun saw Zoe Cook cage a pair of goals with Hannah Bunce and Renee Nearing each getting one.

“Lawrenceville is a really great team,” said Hun coach Liz Cook. “We did the best we could. We had a plan, but I think we never got the confidence we needed. This is a great game to see where we stand. We learned so much from this game.” Hun (1-1) 1 3—5 Lawrenceville (3-0) 10 6 — 16 Goals — ZCook 2, Bunce, Nearing (H).
