J. Raymond (“Ray”) Dietrich, age 93 of Ewing Township, passed away surrounded by his loving family at home on March

6, 2018. Born in Trenton, Ray was a lifelong resident of Mercer County. He was a graduate of Trenton Catholic High School, the Class of 1942. He obtained both his Undergradu­ate and Law degrees from Rutgers University.

Ray was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II, serving as a flight engineer on a PBY2Y Coronado.

He practiced law for over 60 years, with his primary focus in Workers’ Compensati­on. He was known as one of the leading advocates for the advancemen­t of this area of law. Ray served as a mentor to his daughters, Virginia, Elaine and Joanne, all of whom flourished in law under his guidance.

Ray was a family-oriented man and derived great pleasure spending time with family at his beach home on Long Beach Island. Many, many memories are indelibly inscribed in the minds of his family, especially fishing and swimming in the ocean.

He was predecease­d by his parents Jacob and Nellie Jansen Dietrich, his beloved wife Florence Martin Dietrich, daughter Virginia M. Dietrich, brothers Rev. Severin F. Dietrich OFM Conv. and Robert J. Dietrich and brotherin-law, Dominick Olivieri. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Dolores Dietrich, sister Ceil Olivieri, his four daughters, Carol and husband Thaddeus Mikulski Jr., Mary Ellen Warren, Elaine Dietrich and husband Robert Ebbe, and Joanne Dietrich and husband Richard Benziger granddaugh­ters, Joanne Mikulski and husband Bidjan Nashat, Christine Mikulski, Laura Mikulski and husband Mike Kosiak, Florence Jaffa and husband Matthew Jaffa, Virginia Warren and husband Christophe­r Wenk, Samantha Benziger and Annalisa Benziger, great grandchild­ren Jacob Raymond Wenk and Madeleine Nashat and many of nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to offer condolence­s on April 14th, 2018 from 10 am until to 10:45 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 137 W. Upper Ferry Road, Ewing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:45 a.m. followed by burial of Cremains in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton Township. Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of the Hartmann Memorial Home, 2830 Nottingham Way, Mercervill­e New Jersey, 08619.
