Joanne T. Smith

Joanne T. Smith, 83, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018 at home with her family by her side. Born in Reading, PA, she along with her military husband and family had resided in Dover, DE, Alabama, Bowie, MD, Guam, Alexandria, VA, Mt. Holly, NJ and McGuire AFB, before settling in the Bordentown area. Joanne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and nurturer for many and she will be deeply missed.

Predeceased by her parents: Valentine and Florence (Koch) Thomas, her beloved husband: Lt Col. James S. Smith, her daughter: Patricia J. Smith, her son: Jeffrey S. Smith, her siblings: Col. Florence K. Thomas, James Thomas and wife Eve, David Thomas and Patricia Oldani, her brother-in-law: Richard Smith and wife Delores, her brother-in-law James Amison, she is survived by her children: James S. Smith Jr and wife Karen R., Barbara A. Scherer and husband Stephen M., Joseph F. Smith and wife Tammy L., Dennis R. Smith, John S. Smith and Joanne E. Eichmann and husband Matthew B. Her sister: Jacquelyn Amison. Eight grandchildren: TJ, James, Nicole, Joseph, Shawn, Stephanie, Harley and Jakob. Eleven great-grandchildren: Anthony D., Anthony R., Jimmy, Sophia, Alessandra, Connor, Vincent, Reese, Angel, Angelyce and Angelo. Her brothers-in-law: Eugene Smith wife Helen and Denis Smith and wife Mary Ann, Special niece: Shari Gerace and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am Saturday, April 14 at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 45 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ. Friends may call Saturday morning from 9 to 10:30 am at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Joanne’s name to: Compassionate Care Hospice, 261 Connecticut Drive 1, Burlington, NJ 08016
