Willie Mae Howard age 92 transcende­d peacefully April 7, 2018 in Burlington, NJ. Willie Mae was born in Norfolk, VA and lived in the Trenton area for 53 years. She was educated in the Norfolk, VA public school system and Mercer County Community College. She was a member and Church Mother of the Trenton Church of Christ, on Belvedere Street, pastored by Elder Cornelius Marrow and former Senior Missionary of The Church of our Lord Jesus Christ (COOLJC).

Preceded in death by Willie Dailey (father) and Annie Lee TaylorDail­ey (mother); Spouses Elder Frank Howard (2nd husband), and Elder George H. Hassell, Sr. (1st husband); Children Willie McMillian (son), Frank Howard, Jr. (son), Dr. Kimberly Howard (daughter) and Melvin Howard (son); Grandchild­ren: Corporal James T. Jenkins, (Grandson) and Adrianne Hassell (Granddaugh­ter); Sisters: Christine Dicks, Dorothy Evans, Catherine Kearney, and Edith Greene.

She is survived by her children: Abraham C. Hassell, Sr., Mount Laurel, NJ; Cynthia R. Hassell-Fleming, Trenton, NJ; George H. Hassell, Jr., Burlington, NJ; Fields Howard, Old Bridge, NJ; Mother Francis Darby and Bishop James Darby, DeLand, FL and Barbara Jones and Melvin Jones, DeLand, FL. Sister-inlaw Laverne Winfree, Richmond, VA. Special daughter Evelyn Woods, Ewing, NJ and Irene Harris-Hassell, Mount Laurel, NJ. Special granddaugh­ter and grandson Cyntrina Hall-Smith and Arkeith Smith, Sr., Lumberton, NJ; Godchildre­n: Akejandro (Hondo) Reyes, and Elder Ronald & Peggy Young and family, VA. A host of grandchild­ren, great grandchild­ren, great-great grandchild­ren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends

Homegoing services for one of the great pioneers of the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ will be 2pm Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Friendship Baptist Church 111 Perry St. Trenton, NJ. Interment will be at a later date. Arrangemen­ts are by the Hughes Funeral Home.
