Lawrencevi­lle hands WW-PN its first loss

It was a mixed bag for the West Windsor School District softball teams in matchups against the top two prep school teams in the area.

On one hand, West Windsor North suffered its first loss of the year when it fell to Lawrencevi­lle, which is off to its best start in years.

On the other, following a slow start West Windsor South won its second in a row with a lopsided 9-2 triumph over Hun. McKenna Carpenter struck out five and took the loss. Molly Fitzgerald drove in two runs and doubled along with Kat McGrath and Lindsay Kucker, who finished up the game in relief. WEST WINDSOR SOUTH 9, HUN 2 PRINCETON » South won its second in a game with a 10-hit attack featuring a home run by Sam Hastings along with doubles by Kayla Athey, Elyese Dunn and Allie Rome. Pitcher Pryanka Kaul and Athey each had two hits for a South team that handed Hun ace Alana Pearson the loss by scoring six runs in the top of the seventh. Meg Hanson also drove in three runs for the winners.
