Allentown Right Back on Track

-

The week opened with a tough 15-3 loss to Moorestown, but the Redbirds (61) came back the next day and got the best of Princeton, 14-7.

“Moorestown was a great test,’’ said Jen Garavente, the Allentown coach. “It was an awesome opportunity to play a team that challenges you like that early in the season. We realized the importance of draws, ground balls and smart possessions in the Moorestown game. It wasn’t our day, but we sure did take a lot away from that game.’’

After doubling up Princeton the Redbirds notched a 17-7 win over a good Shore team on Saturday.

“Princeton is always a solid team,’’ said Garavente. “So, the girls knew they were in for another tough game. Playing Princeton, the next day allowed us to stay focused on moving forward. They really came together and showed their resiliency, so I’m really proud of them.’’

Moorestown might be in the rearview mirror, but Garavente and Allentown would love to see them again, in the state semifinal.
