Ewing edges Brick Twp. on squeeze play

- Staff Report

RARITAN » The Ewing High softball team got back on track with an exciting 1-0 victory over Brick Township on Saturday.

It all came down to the bottom of the seventh with the game scoreless after Lauren Christensen had yielded just two hits and struck out 10.

Jentle Sheridan got the Blue Devils going with an infield single. From there, Devon Kueny singled and both runners were able to advance when a caught foul pop was ruled a catch and carry out of the field of play.

The dean of Mercer County coaches, Dan Bernoski then dialed up a suicide squeeze and Sheridan was able to race home on a bunt by Deanna Hedrick.

Ewing is now 8-3 heading into a tough week with two games against Steinert and one against Robbinsville.
