Parker M. West, 89, of Hamilton Square, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton, NJ. Born in Hamilton Square, he was a lifelong area resident. Parker was loved and appreciate­d by all who knew him for his sharp mind, remarkable memory, warmth, and wit.

At 17 years of age, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was selected to be part of General MacArthur’s Honor Guard in Japan. He went on to honorably serve his country in the Korean War as a Master Sergeant, earning a Bronze Star during his service. After graduating first in his class from the Sea Girt Police Academy, he joined the Hamilton Township Police Department and served for 30 years before retiring as a Sergeant.

Parker’s hobbies included golf, gardening, physical fitness, local and family history, photograph­y, and going dancing with his lovely wife. Most prominentl­y, he was proud of and devoted to his children, grandchild­ren, and great-grandchild­ren, taking them outdoors and to local events, and providing support whenever needed. He especially enjoyed a long tradition of home-cooked Sunday dinners surrounded by his family.

Predecease­d by his parents, Percy and Miriam (McKee) West; his brothers, Lt. Colonel Houston West and Lt. Colonel Joseph West, and his sister, Jeane West; he is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Lucy E. (Marrazzo) West; his children, Susan Markulec and husband, Albert, David M. West, and Diane Frazee and husband, Gary, all of Hamilton Township; his grandchild­ren, Kelly Trott and husband, Michael, of Alexandria, Virginia, Lauren Frazee, and Scott Frazee; his great-grandchild­ren, Benjamin Trott and Scarlett Trott; his siblings, Richard West of Hamilton Township, Shirley Carson of Surf City, and Martha Stoy of Atlanta, Georgia; his brother-in-law, Frederick Marrazzo of Kingston; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private.
