Hopewell gets top seed for Mercer County Tournament
The Hopewell Valley High baseball team received the top seed for the upcoming Mercer County Tournament.
Head coach Ken Harrison’s Bulldogs, who reached their first MCT final a year ago before losing to Allentown, enters the 2018 tournament with a 16-1 record.
Head coach Brian Nice’s defending champion Redbirds will be the No. 2 seed for this year’s MCT. Allentown is currently 13-2.
Nottingham (14-3), Steinert (8-5) and the Hun School (114) round out the MCT’s top five seeds. They will be preparing for first-round action to get underway Monday, May 7.
Quarterfinal play will be Wednesday with the semifinals set for Saturday, May 12 at Bob DeMeo Field in Hamilton’s Veterans Park at 3:30 & 7 p.m.
Since the Trenton Thunder will be home at Arm & Hammer Park next week, the MCT baseball championship is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, also at Bob DeMeo Field in Hamilton’s Veterans Park. Ewing 12, Trenton 1
