Hightstown is blanked by South Brunswick

HIGHTSTOWN » The Hightstown High softball team failed in its bid to nail down the fifth seed for the upcoming Mercer County Tournament when it dropped a tough 3-0 game to South Brunswick on Saturday.

South Brunswick came into the game with a record of 13-1, but for six innings could do nothing against Ram sophomore Allie Bridgman. In the top of the seventh, however, the Vikings broke through with three runs behind a home bun by Lindsey Warick.

Hightstown finished with just four hits against Gabriella Brancaccio.

Gigi Venizelos and Alana Pearson each smacked two doubles. Pearson was also the winning pitcher with a no-hitter and six strikeouts.
