Trenton raids net AR-15, handguns, drugs, 4 arrests
TRENTON » An AR-15 assault rifle with a 30-round magazine was among a cache of weapons and drugs seized in the basement of a city home last week when law enforcement concluded a seven-month investigation.
Police raided the property in the 1900 block of Riverside Drive as part of a Mercer County Narcotics Task Force investigation which nabbed four people.
Tito Moses, 43, was the target of the operation, according to prosecutors who say he traveled to Newark on a regular basis to buy heroin which was later distributed in Trenton.
Cops arrested Moses and 41-yearold Monica Hersey on May 1 in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant on Cass Street after finding 108 bricks of heroin scattered throughout his Dodge Charger. Hersey also had six bags of heroin, a small quantity of crack cocaine and a digital scale in her possession at the time. Detectives also seized $1,355 in cash from Moses and $170 from Hersey.
Cops then raided numerous locations in Trenton and Ewing and found several weapons and more drugs.
In addition to the AR-15, police found a loaded Glock 19, a pellet gun equipped with a scope, numerous rounds of ammunition, 199 vials of cocaine, 30 decks of heroin, additional cocaine and a large marijuana grow operation in a Riverside Drive apartment rented by 37-year-old Andre Bowland.
In Moses’ Riverside apartment, detectives allegedly found drug paraphernalia used for processing heroin and cocaine.
At an apartment in the 700 block of Monmouth Street, cops found a loaded .40 caliber handgun, a camouflage bulletproof vest, drug paraphernalia and $93 in cash, which was seized.
And in a residence on Kafer Alley, cops found a 9mm handgun, another ballistic vest and 400 bags of heroin. Emily Randall, 45, was in the home at the time, so she was arrested too.
In total, prosecutors say, detectives seized three loaded handguns, one assault rifle, two bulletproof vests, 116 bricks of heroin valued at $23,200, 100 grams of cocaine valued at $10,000, drug manufacturing equipment, the Dodge Charger and $1,618 in cash.
Moses, Bowland and Randall were each charged with numerous drug and weapons offenses.
Hersey was charged with several drug offenses.
The prosecutor’s office has filed a motion to detain Moses while the case plays out in court.
