Steinert powers through Hightstown

HAMILTON TWP. » The Steinert High softball team got its bats back on track Monday when it beat Hightstown, 8-3.

Improving to 13-4, Steinert got a big game from Dara Kelly, who banged out three triples in support of pitcher Kaylee Whittaker. Carli Backlund and Taylor Hawkes each had three two hits. Whittaker got the win with a six-hitter and 13 strikeouts. Allie Bridgman homered for the Rams, who dropped to 10-7.

HAMILTON TWP. » Irish senior Alexis Staniec worked the first five innings and struck out three for the win. Hailee Jantorno led ND at the plate with a 4-for-5 that included a double and triple. Ashley Giampolo and Staniec each had three hits.

Two of Notorianni’s hits were doubles. Dawson was also the winning pitcher with a threehitte­r. Meredith Sharp doubled for the Valley Girls.

Collecting three hits apiece were Chelsea Manto, Shea Walsh and Alyssa Whitman. Allie Taylor also tripled for the Ravens. Mackenzie Medders hurled the win with a one-hitter and three strikeouts.

LAWRENCE TWP. » Playing under the lights, the Knights got a big game from good-looking sophomore shortstop Julia Baber. She went 4-for-4 with two doubles and a home run. Kyra Musmanno tripled and Maddie Russell doubled. McKenna Carpenter got the win in a game in which North used three different pitchers.
