Parker: Play for P.I.N.K. event supports breast cancer research
Being the brother of two breast cancer survivors allows perspective about life, love and the precious moments allowed by their recoveries.
One sister has lived 25 years since her diagnosis and treatment while a younger sibling endured a double mastectomy and reconstructive breast surgery.
Their journeys have expanded my family life circle to include hundreds of local women and hundreds of thousands of sisters and some brothers who face the challenges tethered to breast cancer diseases. We exist together in the support for breast cancer prevention and research, believing that one day the world will witness a breast cancer cure.
Writing a column about the Princeton County Club Women’s Golf League’s 21st annual Play for P.I.N.K. seems natural and offers an opportunity to support and enlighten others about not only cancer but the amazing people who persevere while accepting the wonderful concept of living in the moment.
“There are a number of us, plus, others who’s friends or relatives have been touched by breast cancer. We have about 35 women in our league who take great pride in making a contribution toward breast cancer research. One-hundred percent of the money we collect during this event goes toward breast cancer initiatives,” Angela Deitch, secretary of the PCCWGL, said. Deitch serves as committee chair for the P.I.N.K. outing.
P.I.N.K. represents an acronym for several cancer initiatives. This outreach stands for Prevention, Immediate diagnosis, New technology and Knowledge.
Princeton Country Club Women’s Golf League hosts a Play for P.I.N.K. event on Tuesday, June 12 at Princeton Country Club.
Deitch noted that this year’s P.I.N.K. event needs local support as The Estee Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Campaign serves as the new title sponsor.
Platinum Sponsor requires a donation of $1,000 or more which includes golf and cart fees, light breakfast and buffet lunch for four players, plus recognition at event.
Golf Sponsorship of $500 includes golf and cart fees, light breakfast and buffet lunch for two players plus recognition at event.
Pink Sponsors of $250 receives golf and cart fees, light breakfast and buffet lunch for one player plus recognition at the event.
A Hole-In-One Sponsorship of $200 includes sign on hole and event recognition with a Blooming Grove Inn-Gift Certificate of $200 as the key gift.
Or, support the P.I.N.K. event by sponsoring a hole for $100 or by registering to play in the event which costs $110. The fee includes breakfast and lunch, plus, adds dollars that supports the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Play for P.I.N.K. events presented BCRF with a 2017 donation of $4.6 million.
“It’s one of those situations where large events and smaller ones combine to deliver a significant amount of dollars for breast cancer research,” Deitch noted.
Deitch explained that a Silent Auction will offer numerous elite prizes, including foursomes designated to play at some of the top local golf courses.
Prizes, food and fellowship make the Play for P.I.N.K. event a perfect way to support breast cancer research.
