Weather postpones semifinals until Monday

- Staff Report

HAMILTON » Poor field conditions after an early morning rain and the threat of heavier storms later in the day forced the Mercer County Baseball Tournament to postpone its semifinal round Saturday at Bob DeMeo Field in Veterans Park.

The games will instead be played Monday at that same site.

Seventh-seeded Princeton (13-7) will play third-seeded Nottingham (18-4) at 3:30 p.m. that day with the second semifinal between fifthseeded Hun (13-5) and topseeded Hopewell Valley (21-2) at 7 p.m.

Fans planning to attend the event or Tuesday’s 7 p.m. final at Veterans Park should also be aware that a $5 per vehicle parking fee will be charged.

The schedule change also means Nottingham’s regular season game at Hopewell Valley and Princeton’s regular season game at Ewing are postponed Monday.

Hun is also supposed to play at Christian Brothers Academy at 4:15 p.m. Monday. As of press time Saturday, that game had yet to be postponed.

Saturday’s a.m. rain also washed out three other regular season games scheduled to be played yesterday.

The game between West Windsor-Plainsboro South and WW-P North at Community Park was postponed until 7 p.m. Tuesday.

New Egypt’s Burlington County Scholastic League Freedom Division game with Maple Shade was postponed, but not immediately rescheduled.

Princeton Day School’s home game with New Hope-Solebury was cancelled.

Sam Raymond’s double, plus singles from Andres Frias and Ali Pompey were as much as Trenton Catholic Academy could muster in this nonleague game.

MERCERSBURG 11-3, LAWRENCEVILLE 1-0 MERCERSBURG, PA. » The Mid-Atlantic Prep League campaign came to a close as the Blue Storm took a doubleheader from the Big Red.
