Iran nuke deal

-

I am writing to express outrage over President Trumps’ withdraw from the Iran nuclear agreement. While not perfect, the agreement has in fact kept Iran’s military nuclear ambitions at bay to the benefit of the entire planet. The Iran deal was made in partnership with our closest European allies, along with Russia and China. The unilateral withdraw from an international accord without provocation is absolutely irresponsible and places the safety of all in jeopardy. In fact, Iran quickly launched an attacked against Israel and not surprisingly, Israel responded in kind. Blood has been shed and lives have been lost for nothing. Additionally, America now heads into critical negotiations with North Korea having just reneged on a promise. Our creditability is now tarnished.

The reasons the President gave for the withdraw are riddled with hyperbole and lies as shown in this article from the Washington Post on Tuesday — https://wapo.st/2ru9RSA?tid=ss_mail&utm_term=.c1a95c2dd9b9. The real reasons for the withdraw appear to be politically motivated by the President’s irrational desire to erase the achievements of the President Obama. Worse yet, Mr. Trump along with his militant new Secretary of State and Security adviser John Bolton, are advocating regime change in Iran. That likely means direct military conflict with Iran. We do not need any more Vietnams and Iraqs.

Lives are stake. America needs to step up and be a courageous leader to stop the killing and embrace peaceful diplomacy. — Jim Drumheller, Hamilton
