TRENTON

Man Shot: A 26-year-old city man was rushed to Capital Health Regional Medical Center late Friday night after being shot multiple times in the North Ward. Police responded about 11:55 p.m. to the 100 block of Perry Street on a report of a shooting in progress in the area of Perry and North Broad streets. Officers arrived on scene and located the victim, who was suffering from several gunshot wounds. Medics transported the victim to the trauma center in critical condition. The victim underwent emergency surgery, but police as of Saturday afternoon did not have any immediate updates on the victim’s condition. Police have not determined a motive for the shooting and had no suspect descriptions as of Saturday afternoon. The Mercer County Shooting Response Team is continuing its investigation into the violent crime.

PLAINSBORO

Alleged Drunken Driving: Selvin N. Barrera-Moran, 33, of Trenton, was arrested last weekend on drunken driving charges. About 2:20 a.m. Sunday, May 6, Plainsboro Police stopped a black 2004 Nissan Murano for failing to maintain a lane on Route 1 South. Upon further investigation, the driver, identified as Barrera-Moran, was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested on scene and later released to a friend. Barrera-Moran, a cook by occupation, was issued summonses charging him with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, unlicensed driver, unsafe lane change, and driving through a safety zone. More Alleged Drunken Driving: Sumit Sood, 47, of Plainsboro, was recently arrested on drunken driving charges. Sood, an IT manager by occupation, was pulled over about 1 a.m. May 3 on Scotts Corner Road for allegedly driving a black Toyota Camry with an inoperable license plate lamp and expired inspection. The officer took Sood into custody after determining he was boozed up.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, Pa.

Major Jewelry Theft: At 4:30 p.m. May 7, a Newtown Township resident responded to headquarters to report the theft of some of his wife’s jewelry. The total reported value of loss is $115,000. Investigation is ongoing.

Credit Card Fraud: At approximately 12:30 p.m. May 6, a Newtown Township resident responded to headquarters to report that she had been the victim of credit card fraud. She stated that she was at the Acme in Newtown the day before and used one of the self-checkout stations. She believes that she accidentally left her credit cards on the counter there, and she began to receive notifications from her credit card companies regarding fraudulent purchases shortly after. Investigation is ongoing.

Hit-and-Run Crash: A hit-and-run driver fled after crashing into an unoccupied parked vehicle off Jonquil Drive. The incident is believed to have occurred Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. The vehicle that was struck was parked in the street and sustained heavy front-end damage. The striking vehicle that left the scene without providing any information or reporting the incident was kind enough to leave behind a piece of the vehicle as evidence. The piece has been potentially identified as being a part to a white Hyundai Sonata that could be around a 2012 model. Attempted Wire Fraud: Around 11:45 a.m. May 4, a Newtown Township resident contacted police to report an attempted wire fraud transaction from their personal bank account. There was no reported loss to the victim as the bank manager was able to detect and prevent the fraudulent transaction from going through.

FALLS TOWNSHIP, Pa.

Another Hit-and-Run Crash: A hit-and-run crash occurred Thursday at the intersection of Tyburn Road and Lincoln Highway. The striking/fleeing vehicle was a 2000s model white Ford Explorer with a partial tag of “KMM.” The striking vehicle has significant damage to the front driver’s side wheel well. The vehicle was last seen turning left onto Commerce Boulevard from Lincoln Highway.
