Compassion for all Beings

-

I love animals and believe they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. That’s why I am angered by Representative King’s extremely anti-animal bill, H.R. 3599. This bill would overturn state laws that protect farm animals from extreme confinement, threatens consumer protections and undermines states’ rights.

I encourage my fellow Americans to urge our members of Congress to oppose this alarming bill.

Many citizens share my belief in compassion for all beings, and I think we need more legislation that reflects this. More kindness for our fellow humans and other animals, both in our government and in our daily lives, would catalyze much positive change in our world.

We can start with our own actions, by voting with our dollars and choosing to support ethical companies that treat workers, animals and the environment fairly. To help animals specifically, folks can seek out humanely-raised meat, eggs and dairy to ensure the creatures led good lives. Also, simply eating fewer animal products does wonders for the critters (and for your own health).

Folks can also seek out brands that are certified B-Corporations, which is currently the highest standard ensuring fair labor and environmental stewardship in the making of the product.
