James (Sonny) McRae, was born June 26, 1954 to the late Ernest and Elizabeth McRae in Dillon, South Carolina.

Sonny exchanged time for eternity on Thursday, May 24, 2018 in Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center, Hamilton, New Jersey.

His family moved to Trenton, NJ in 1958. Sonny was educated in the Our Lady Divine Shepherd, and the Trenton Public School System. Sonny was employed by several employers including, the family business of McRae Brothers Carpet and Drycleanin­g, Pinos Formal Wear, St. Francis Medical Center and Johanna Foods, Inc.

In his younger years, he played shortstop for North Trenton Little League. Sonny was a member of the Church of The Lord Jesus House of Prayer for All People. He served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and a Praise and Worship Leader.

Sonny was predecease­d by his parents, Ernest and Elizabeth McRae, his step mother, Mildred McRae, his in-laws, Pastor Eartha Brown and Arthur A. Brown, two sistersin-law, Lenora Brown, Elaine McRae a brotherin-law, Robert Thomas, a grandson, Noah McRae and great granddaugh­ter, Ski’Lar Brown.

Left to cherish his memories is his wife of forty-one years, Loretta McRae, sons, Anthony Brown (Annette), Dulry Carroll-McRae both of Trenton, NJ and Quincy McRae (Shamair) of Burlington, NJ. One daughter, Keira Wiggins (Alfonso) of Robbinsvil­le, NJ. Three brothers, Ed Morris Smith of San Jose, California, Joseph McRae and David McRae both of Trenton, NJ. Two sisters, Rachel Frink and Carol McRae both of Trenton, NJ. One Aunt, Doretha Reed of Trenton, NJ. Ten grandchild­ren, four great grandchild­ren, seven brothers and sisters-in-law as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Cathedral Fellowship Ministries, 1217 Rev. S. Howard Woodson Way, Trenton, NJ. Rev. Keith Marshall will be officiatin­g. Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery Hamilton, NJ. Arrangemen­ts are by the Hughes Funeral Home.
