Mob rule avoided by level-headed neighbor in Trenton

-

A crash. A crowd. And then pandemonium.

Memorial Day weekend ended with a bang on Franklin St. when a out-ofcontrol driver behind the wheel of a dark-colored Nissan Quest van struck several vehicles.

“He tried to drive off then his car broke down. Then he tried to run but residents caught him. They were going to beat him but another neighbor brought the guy into his house until the police arrived. He could have been (expletive) up,” a resident said.

The incident occurred at about 8:45 Monday as most residents had ended their Memorial Day parties and barbecues. Franklin St., located in the city’s Chambersburg section, had offered near silence as some stragglers remained on stoops.

“They hit your car,

Mr. Parker,” neighbors screamed. Good looking out but the driver’s side damage came with the pre-owned vehicle.

The Quest van showed a broken front right-side broken axle which ended the driver’s getaway attempt. Franklin St. showed about 100 people hanging out in what seemed like a lead into National Night Out.

Thanks to Franklin St. residents who displayed civic responsibility although attempting to beat the crap out of this driver should never occur.

Mob rule should never overrule law enforcement. Trenton police arrived shortly after the crash and arrested the alleged driver.
