Hopewell Post 339 rallies past BSP

HOPEWELL TWP. » The Hopewell Post 339 baseball team came up with six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to overcome Broad St. Park Post 313, 6-1, Sunday in this early season battle of Mercer County American Legion League leaders.

The teams entered their game at Hopewell Valley High with 5-0 records and went three scoreless innings before Kiefer Goss knocked in Kyle Harrington to give Post 313 a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth.

The following inning, Nick Psomaras and David Iorio drove in runs to ignite the big inning.

Hopewell pitcher Zack Bregenzer tossed a four-hitter to outduel BSP pitcher Adam Drosos, who tossed a five-hitter and allowed just one earned run.

Chris Cote went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and two runs batted in, and David Stec improved to 2-0 on the mound for Hamilton.

Johnny Schroeder went 2-for-4 with a double and a run for Bordentown.
