Red Star solidified its grip on the Mercer Independen­t Softball League when it beat Eastern Auto Exchange on the 10-run rule. Improving to 10-2 and dropping Eastern Auto to 9-4, Red Star pulled away with seven runs in the sixth inning to win 13-3. The loser got a 3-for-3 from Billy Barron, and two hits. apiece by Matt Chotkowski, Chrs Geraci and Adam Vacirca. Eastern Auto Exchange 22, Mooby 21 >> Gerard Belviso, Ryan Gauze, and Chris Geraci each had four hits. Geraci supplied the power with two homers, two doubles and five RBIs. Kevin Barger and Mike DiPietropo­lo also homered. Smires 16-29, Less is Mohr 15-13>> Smires swept a twinbill to improve to 7-5. Mark Trimble led the offense in the first game with three hits, four RBIs and a walk-off homer. Vinnie Sorrentino and Ant Stull were each 4-for-4. In game two, David Leeds was 4-for-4 with two homers. Anthony Stull, Vinnie Sorrentino and Chris Giambrone all had four hits.

BOT/Gabis 17-14, Eastern Termite 7-9 >> Rick McLaughlin and Michael Kalinowski share the pitching duties for BOT as they swept Eastern Termite. Deuce Johnson had a big day at the plate and Bryan Bennett excelled in the field.

Prince Plumbing 20-25; Blend-KMH&L Lawyers 8-31 >> After the Plumbers won the opener, the Lawyers bounced back by switching to a fourman outfield behind pitchers Tony Donahue and Frank Mulrine.
