Actress Betty Buckley wants to ‘make America happy again’
LOS ANGELES » Betty Buckley says the title role in an upcoming national tour of “Hello, Dolly!” is a gift, and she wants the show to “make America happy again.”
The versatile actresssinger will play the title role in the revival. She tells The Associated Press she doesn’t yet know how she’ll approach the role.
It is a busy time for the 70-year-old Buckley. She recently performed four concerts in New York celebrating the release of her new live album, “Hope.”
She’s also booked a couple of recurring television roles, appearing in this week’s season finale of The CW’s “Supergirl.” On Sunday she’ll appear in AMC’s “Preacher” as the creepy, complicated grandmother of the title character.
