I don’t care where mayor Yaede bought her dog, don’t care what his name is, don’t care she didn’t follow rule of dogs not allowed in Ballpark. Do care that she was more concerned re who took the pictures, called him names, and asked the association to call Trentonian on her behalf. All she had to do was admit her error, say I’m sorry and it won’t happen again. In the typical politician’s mindset, she tried to reflect attention on a different aspect of the issue and how much do you want to bet that the no dog sign comes down soon? — A reader

Yeah, that’s the point that a lot of people missed when reacting to that story. If she was just a citizen, then bringing her dog to a park that has a “no dogs” sign posted would never be a story. But the perception in the community is that she has a “do as I say, not as I do” attitude. Little things like this rub people the wrong way. So when a public figure who has been the center of some controversial issues is seen doing something silly like this, people freak out about it.
