Vivian Joyce Downing of Trenton, NJ, age 77, passed away June

28, 2018 at Thomas Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. Vivian was born in Trenton, NJ. She attended the Trenton Public School System. After the family relocated to New York City, she attended Washington Irving High School. Upon returning to Trenton, Vivian landed a job with the Trenton Public School System, working in the Head Start Program for a few years. She transferred to the Follow Through Program. Vivian is predeceased in death by her parents, Ralph and Anna Reeves Downing, two grandsons, Timothy Downing and Tito Glover, her sisters, Barbara, Elaine Downing Sanford, Lynda Downing, and Rose Downing Law, and a brother, Ralph “Ricky” Downing Jr. She is survived by her lifelong companion, Thomas McKinney, three daughters, Marshell and Leisa Downing, and Gail Hopkins, one son, Thomas Downing, her grandchildren, Anthony L. Downing, Teisha L. Downing, Ashanti T. Downing, Hassan R. Downing, Marshan R. Downing, and Kahlil Downing, her great-granddaughter, Lanija McNeil, ten greatgrandchildren, five greatgreat-grandchildren, two sisters, Jean Downing Huff and Thelma Downing Bryant (Phil), and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral service will 10am Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 340 Rev. S. Howard Woodson Jr. Way, Trenton, NJ. Calling hours will be 8am until the time of service at the church. Interment will be at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park, Ewing, NJ. Arrangements are by the Hughes Funeral Home.
