Thunder split a pair with Fisher Cats

MANCHESTER, N.H. » Cavan Biggio hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning, leading the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to a 3-2 win over the Thunder on Wednesday.

The home run by Biggio, his Eastern League-leading 20th, capped a threerun inning and gave the Fisher Cats a 3-2 lead after Harold Ramirez hit an RBI double earlier in the inning.

Trenton went up by two after Billy Fleming and Jeff Hendrix hit RBI doubles in the third and sixth innings.

New Hampshire southpaw Tayler Saucedo (2-1) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing two runs on six hits over six innings. Opposing starter Brian Keller (6-7) took the loss after he allowed three runs on just four hits over 5 2/3 innings. Travis Bergen retired the side in order for his third save of the season.

For the Thunder, Fleming doubled and singled, also stealing a base.

The Thunder picked up a 3-2 win in the completion of a suspended game that was played first.

The game picked up in the bottom of the third with Trenton leading, 3-0, and it held on for the win behind five scoreless innings from Garrett Whitlock in his Double-A debut.

Juan Kelly hit a two-run pinch-hit homer in the ninth before James Reeves recorded the final out.

The Fisher Cats (53-41) maintained a 1.5 game lead over the Thunder (52-43) in the EL East.
