Charles Edward Matthews of Trenton

Charles “Jazzmo” Edward Matthews age 85 of Trenton, was born to the late Huey and Fannie Mae Matthews on

April 23, 1933 in Griffin, Georgia.

On the evening of July 19, 2018, Charles went home peacefully surrounded and comforted by his family members at Capital Health SystemFuld.

Charles became a Trenton resident at the age of 8 and attended Trenton Public Schools. Charles graduated from Trenton High School in 1951. He joined Local #369 as a construction worker with 18 years of service. ’’Jazzmo’’ later joined the Hamilton Township Public School District where he retired after 20 years of service as the Head Custodian.

Brother of the late Annie R. Dyous-Gentry. Charles leaves to morn and cherish his memory ex-wife Maggie Matthews and family, one brother and sister-in-law John and Alberta Grier Jr., who resides in Florida, his two sons and daughters-in-law Derrick K. and wife Betty and Ivan D. and wife Dawn Matthews, five grandchildren Ikia, Chyna, Julia Ann, Evan HortonMatthews and Isiah Matthews, three greatgrandchildren Quadeer, Quadseer and Quadeem Stubs, a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be 12pm Friday, July 27, 2018 at the Hughes Funeral Home 324 Bellevue Ave. Trenton, NJ. Calling hour will be 11am until time of service at the funeral home. Interment Greenwood Cemetery Hamilton, NJ.
