Ewing man pleads guilty to possessing huge child porn collection of over 12,000 files
TRENTON » A sicko admitted he shared his disgusting collection in pleading guilty to child porn charges, authorities said.
Matthew Brutto, 32, of Ewing, admitted Thursday to a second-degree charge of distribution of child pornography before Superior Court Judge Peter Warshaw, the state Attorney General’s Office said.
Brutto had more than 12,000 files of child porn on his computers, which were shared with others through a peer network, the AG’s office said.
His plea agreement calls for him to spend five years in the slammer, half which he would have to serve before becoming eligible for parole, authorities said.
Brutto, who is set for sentencing Nov. 5, must also register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law and is subject to parole supervision for life.
“Offenders like Brutto who share child pornography online perpetuate the victimization of the children who are sexually assaulted to produce these vile materials, and they further motivate those who commit these horrific assaults,” Attorney General Gurbir Grewal said in a statement. “Protecting children is our highest priority, and we will continue to collaborate across all levels of law enforcement to send these offenders to prison.”
Brutto was arrested earlier this year following an investigation by the Division of Criminal Justice. Detectives were monitoring an online file-sharing network popular among those who used it to download and trade child pornography, authorities said.
And Brutto was pegged as a child porn suspect after detectives downloaded more than three dozen child porn files in March 2018 and traced an IP address back to Brutto’s home in Ewing, which was raided April 10.
Brutto’s computers were seized and forensically examined turning up more than 12,000 videos and images of child pornography off a computer hard drive, authorities said.
