Immigration in New Jersey

I am calling to alert Americans that your country is virtually being given away under your very noses by the Democratic party and letting illegal aliens into our country is just like Invaders coming in to our country. The whole purpose of this is to get these illegals voting rights so that the Democrats can take complete control of our country while we were paying for it to the tune of 1 and 3 billion dollars last year. It is evident right here in New Jersey where 62% of the population is not American-born. Rutgers University is now it’s letting go illegal Aliens free of charge but you and I are paying for our children. My daughter has been paying off her daughter’s student loan and it has taken her hard work for eleven years to do it. What does this tell you? The Democrat Democrats are determined to destroy our Constitution and our democracy. — A reader

Almost none of what you’re saying is accurate. Spouting false statistics isn’t a good way to support your xenophobic rant. Though I guess when Breitbart and Info Wars are your main “news” sources, that’s all you really know. Let’s start with the easily verified population stat: according the MigrationPolicy.org, 22.5% of New Jersey’s population is foreign-born. That’s mostly people here legally, the majority are from Asia. Rutgers is part of a statewide program that allows “dreamers” to apply for financial aid for college. That doesn’t mean free college. Financial aid includes those burdensome student loans that you speak of. And this is only for students who have applied for legal status, not just any undocumented immigrant.
