EAST ROCKHILL, PA. » Junior quarterback Brody McAndrew threw for pair of touchdowns and ran for another score while the Neshaminy defense slowed down Pennridge as the Redskins earned their first win of the season, topping the host Rams 2714 Friday night at Helman Field.

Neshaminy never trailed after Oleh Manzyk’s 21-yard touchdown run made it 6-0 at 7:15 in the first quarter but the ‘Skins (1-1) could not shake Pennridge (1-1) until McAndrew fought across the goal line from four yards out with 58 seconds left in the fourth.

Shane Hartzell’s sack of McAndrew in the end zone for a safety pulled the Rams within 6-2 at 8:15 in the second quarter. Neshaminy, however, went into halftime leading 13-2 after Ian Sheehan’s diving catch in the end zone off a deflection for a 14-yard TD pass from McAndrew with 41 seconds left before the break.

Pennridge cut the margin to 13-8 on the opening series of the third quarter — Zak Kantor connecting with Jonathan Post for a nine-yard touchdown at 9:07 in the third. But Neshaminy answered on the next drive with McAndrew hitting Cory Joyce for a nine-yard TD and a 20-8 advantage at 6:35.

The Rams made it a one-score game with 8:56 left in the fourth when Kantor went deep to Post for a 46-yard touchdown, cutting the ‘Skins lead to 20-14.

Pennridge forced a Neshaminy 3-and-out but the Rams could only get to their own before punting. McAndrew hit Sheehan along the sideline for a 33yard gain down to the Pennridge 27. Six plays later McAndrew scored on a four-yard run on 4th and 1 in the game’s final minute.

Both teams are on the road next week. Neshaminy visits Downingtown west while Pennridge is at Perkiomen Valley.
