TRENTON » Authorities have filed additional charges against a Trenton cop accused of sexually assaulting a minor.

William Sanchez-Monllor, 36, who resides in Burlington County, is charged with six new counts of aggravated sexual assault and one new count of endangering the welfare of a child.

He was arrested last week and initially charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault, two counts of sexual assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

Burlington County prosecutors say the new charges involve a separate victim, who was also a minor. As with the original victim, prosecutors say, the abuse happened on multiple occasions in Burlington County. Details of the assaults against both victims were sealed by a judge.

Sanchez-Monllor is accused of committing at least one act of sexual penetration with a victim at least 13 but less than 16 years old. According to the statutes he was charged under, Sanchez-Monllor had a legal duty or assumed responsibility for a child who was molested under his care. He could face up to 20 years in state prison if convicted on a first-degree aggravated sexual assault, and could be incarcerated much longer if convicted on all counts at trial.

A Trenton cop since March 2010, Sanchez-Monllor collects about $102,000 in annual salary, according to state pension records. He has been suspended with pay pending an internal affairs investigation.

A detention hearing will be held later this week.
