Trenton activist feeding others for his birthday

Imagine a birthday party where the celebrant gives away gifts.

That scenario plays out Saturday, October 20 when a community activist known as Round 1 enjoys his birthday by offering a meal to all guests at his sponsored Mill Hill Park event.

The birthday party actually connects to a “dream that I’ve had for about 12 years. I have always fed the homeless and looked after senior citizens but I’ve always wanted to have an event that fed the city. So, this is the fulfillment of a dream. And it’s long overdue,” Round 1 said.

“We’re going to have entertainers, speakers and lots of love for everybody that shows up. The great thing is that a lot of people have gotten behind this. They have made donations, will contribute food or help out in some other way. It’s my birthday but I wanted to extend the party to people in the city who may need a meal or would like to spend some time together in the park.”

Speakers include Vicki Tucker, Stacey Grier and Positive Force while an entertainers list features Reese Johnson, Troy Cainn, Elease Robinson Carter, Na’Sheed, Q’mashyn FreshFlo, Steve Williams and the Amazing Grace Little.

The event will distribute community service awards to Ronald Davis and the Justice League while Trenton author Racha Rebel Barlow plans an appearance.

“It’s all free and everybody is welcome. We’re looking to have a good time. I’m just glad that this is finally happening with a lot of help from many different people,” Round 1 said.

The Mill Hill party includes games and a Bouncie area for children. The Round One event runs from 2p.m. until 7 p.m.
