Albert Blakely Jr.

Albert Blakely, Jr., 86, was called from labor to reward on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Robert Wood Johnson Compassionate Care. He was born in Laurens, S.C. His family later moved to Charlotte, N.C., where he met his wife of 51 years, Griffie Murray Blakely. He joined the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged in 1961. After moving his family to Trenton, N.J., he was employed by the Homesote Company in Ewing, N.J., and Reedman Motors in Langhorne, Pa., before becoming self-employed as an Automotive Technician. His family joined Galilee Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Semuel Bagley.

He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Classie Mae Blakely; Brother, James Blakely; Sister, Doris Hunter; Wife, Griffie Blakely; Daughter, Priscilla “Pat” Cook; Son-in-law, Anthony “Tony” Reading and Great-Grandchildren, Shaun and Janya Houston. He leaves to cherish his precious memory: Daughter, Carol Reading; God-Daughter, Rose McCall; Grandchildren, Crystal Jahtona, Jennel and Jacqui Reading; Great-Granddaughter, Teryn Caviness; Aunt, Windell Blakely; Sister-in-law, Mary Blakely; a special niece, Stella Blakely; Special friends, Vicky, Dennis, Mr. Al, Eric, Kenny, Tonia, Chuck, the French Tower and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be 10am Friday, October 19, 2018 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 340 Rev. S. Howard Woodson Jr. Way, Trenton, NJ. Calling hours will be 8am until the time of service at the church. Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ. Arrangements are by the Hughes Funeral Home.
