The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s soccer team is having another great season and two of the reasons why are the play of Julia Panko and Gabby Saade.

Both are former Colonial Valley Conference all-stars, Panko at Notre Dame and Saade at West Windsor-Plainsboro South.

Now juniors, they have been instrumental in the Ducks’ fantastic 10-2 start, that includes an eight game winning streak.

“Our team has always been very team oriented and committed to becoming the best we can be, and we push each other every day to improve on our weaknesses and make our strengths even stronger,’’ said Panko, who is a Chemical Engineering major. “This year we have a very talented group of players, but I think what makes our group special is that we truly got to know each other over the summer and during preseason, which makes us a very close-knit group and improves our performance on the field.’’

Panko and Saade have played in all 52 games since arriving in Hoboken and both have found success on the field and a perfect choice off the field.

“I came to Stevens because of its esteemed reputation as an Engineering Institution but stumbled upon something great on the way,” said Saade, who is a Mechanical Engineering major. “The team here is like a second family to me and I try to give everything I can to them. Through being a part of a team like this, filled with 24 different people all with the same overlying goal, I have grown as a leader, communicator, and friend. I have seen changes in myself that I never imagined seeing.”

During their two plus seasons, the Ducks have amassed a 40-8-4 record, they have a pair of Empire 8 championships and been to the NCAA tournament the last two years.

“Being a part of this group for the past three seasons has helped me grow as a leader and as a person,’’ said Panko. “I like to think I contribute to the growth of the team by being a reliable teammate and good source of energy and encouragement in practices and games.”

Panko, who has 24 career goals and 19 assists, has three goals (all game winners) this season and two assists.

Saade, who has 19 career goals and 13 assists, has a goal and two assists. Her goal was also a game winner.

“This program has grown to be something that everyone on the team buys into from the start and puts all of their energy into,’’ said Saade. “I think my proudest contribution to the overall growth of the program is being someone that everyone can rely on, both on and off the field.” all 15 games for Kings in the midfield. has started all 12 games on defense for Delaware
