Leonard Lance’s record
Leonard Lance pretends to be a moderate with a pro-jobs, pro-environment record, but his voting record in Congress tells another story.
He repeatedly voted against greenenergy programs that create jobs in his district while providing clean solar and wind energy, in favor of coal, gas and oil. Coal may be popular in Kentucky and West Virginia, but it doesn’t create jobs in our district.
Lance has favored dangerous programs that hurt water safety in our homes and schools, such as his 2017 vote against the Stream Protection Rule and the assault on Clean Energy and Water in H.R. 3219. He claims to be concerned about climate change, offshore drilling, protecting the EPA and our air and water quality, but he consistently votes for dirty energy, offshore drilling and lower standards of clean air and water. In 2016 he voted against an amendment to H.R. 4775 that would close Fracking loopholes in the Clean Air Act which could poison the air we breathe here in his district. His legislation threatens our air and water and hurts greenenergy jobs in New Jersey. We’ve all seen what happened when the water was poisoned in Flint, Michigan. Republicans and Democrats agree that we don’t want to see our own water poisoned, and we don’t want fracking in our community.
These are just a few examples of hundreds of votes Leonard Lance has cast that endanger the life and health of New Jersey citizens while hurting the environment, jobs and the economy. I urge the people of New Jersey District 7 to send Congressman Lance a message in November and send Tom Malinowski to Congress. Tom Malinowski is a true moderate who doesn’t take money from the energy lobbyists. He would protect our water and air and block any attempts to start fracking in our communities, and he would favor clean energy programs that create jobs in our state.
